So today I’m going to talk about going back to school. And I know all the moms are ready for that to happen. I don't have that anymore, because our daughter is 24. She hasn't been to school in a long time. I was thinking about my notes this morning, and I was like, “Hmm. What do you kind of get, what do you kind of do?” You need to make a list of what you need before the wants. So school supplies, clothes, shoes, haircuts, you want to make a list for each child. If you have multiple child/children, I only had one.
Is there anything that you can purchase online that you don't have to be in the store? Maybe “adding to the cart” after your kids has gone to sleep, so you can think and and not be distracted? I do a lot of Walmart, I do Walmart plus now and they'll deliver my groceries to the house, to the kitchen, which is super helpful, especially if I'm on lives, or if I'm having a webinar or something like that, it's super great. Or if I just happen to not be home, they can deliver it and put it in my refrigerator, and then I don't have to worry about it going bad if I have ice cream or milk or whatever.
Maybe think about that, think about if you “add it to car”t, if you can have it, where you can pick it up, instead of being in the store because you know, being in the store causes us to want to buy more, we just see it and we make an impulse decision – that's why we want to make sure that we have our list of what we need.
Before we go in there, we need to have a budget of what we're going to spend. And then, like I said, if you can do it to the “add to cart” where you can either have it delivered or where you can pick it up, that would be perfect!
And then are you going to take advantage of your tax free weekend for your state. I know ours is coming up. I don't know exactly what the date is, and I don't know about other states if they've already had them or not. But if you're gonna do that, you want to make sure and decide what items you plan to purchase during that time. And so remember that it's hectic during that time, and the last thing you want to do is be rushed – make sure that you have your list and you have your plan so that you're not rushed and frantic to make a decision. Your bank account and your sanity will thank you later.
This is definitely a category where you would overspend. You might consider doing cash envelopes for each child. That way, you're gonna get the most important items first. And remember that you don't have to have every single thing. Everything is not an important and it's not a need at the beginning. You can always go back and get it. You have to get the things that you absolutely need that they're going to need the first day of school, in the first month of school. But after that, you know you can you can step back, take a little bit of breath and then figure out what else you need.
